Tartan tree

Daring Cardmakers challenge this week is to use tartan so I making my whole card about just that. The background paper came in red and green so I used half of each. The large triangle has been distressed with gold ink and edged with black ink.I've used my dress makers wheel to perforate lines down the edges. The Christmas tree is die cut and covered in tartan ribbon plus a huge bow.

Christmas Elf

Craft challenge 18 this week was to use no backing paper. I've dry embossed a small design over the card and gently inked the edges. The image is Cherry Kisses Elf from Polycraft ,I've done the fur trim on her dress with liquid applique and then added a little glue and glitter. The image has been mounted on gold card and wrapped with green ribbon. The tree is cut from gift wrap and the sentiment is from Francheville .

Time for Tea

"Buzz Off " is what we are told from Cute Card Thursday this week, so yellow and black are the focus of this challenge.I've made my card using black card stock, yellow and white striped paper, black ribbon,an edge punch and a yellow flower. The teapot was just an outline which I coloured and shaded then added some black spots.I've used sticky dots to lift it ever so slightly from the white card.

New Home

This is the first challenge set by Lily-Boo so pop along and take a look at the site I think you will like it.They have very kindly provided an image along with instructions for 2 ribbons,3 flowers and 4 brads.
I've coloured in the image and used my two ribbons on the front along with one brad. The grey square on the front of the card opens to reveal a sentiment plus 3 flowers and the other 3 brads making 4 altogether. The New Home sentiment is a rub on .

Time Flies

It's Friday already and I've only just finished my card for Mojo Monday.I really liked the sketch this week but couldn't decide what to do.The beige background paper is from 'Moments in Time' a scrapbooking pack from sandylion which has been distressed .The butterfly and circle paper I stamped up myself. Starting with a brown paper I stamped randomly with dark brown, gold and blue inks, then stamped the butterfly on top.The blue paper was also stamped with the same colours to tie in.The clock face was hand cut and if you are observant you will notice the that 9 and 3 are in the wrong place. All the big circles were hand cut and inked round the edges.

Hello Tuesday Morning challenge 12

Before I tell you about todays sketch I was in the top five last week when the challenge was ribbons from Tuesday morning sketches.
This week we have a layout at Tuesday Morning sketches challenge 12 .I've used chalks to colour the edges of the card, the beautiful backing paper was a magazine freebie .I've used a fancy edging punch and rubbed gold ink into the pattern. The image is Cherry Blossom from Woodware. For the panel at the back I rubbed over a coin to get an image and then added a bow.I punched out three little flowers for the top.I uploaded the card then realised I had forgotten the sentiment,I've done it now but I think its a bit too big.I will amend it later.

Drake the penguin

Sorry folks but my card today is similar to yesterdays creation. Not intentional just the way it's worked out.

Pollycraft challenge 24 'Black and White plus one other colour .I have used a freebie image from Pollycraft as it suited the colour combo.I would have preferred to use red,hot pink or lime green as my other colour but I wanted to shade the snow so it had to blue.

Basic black card stock,a strip of white paper cut with fancy scissors and punched with a small snowflake design, the punched bits used for the rest of the card. The tag and image have been inked round the edges.

Over the weekend I have bought several digital images from Pollycraft,I hope to show some of them this week.

Christmas in September

It doesn't matter what time of year it is making a Christmas card always gives me more pleasure than any other themed card.I've used the layout from Card Patterns 'sketch 33' and from Allsorts challenge' Snowflakes in September'

I cut and folded the basic card then cut two triangles of snowflake paper (a magazine freebie) stitched them into place. The snowman and sentiment are a rub on which came from a large sheet of Christmas images bought from my local supermarket. I inked the edges of the card and punched some snowflakes in blue and silver .A silver ribbon to finish.

A bit of everything

I make no apologies for this ,it's not my usual style.I love this paisley butterfly so much I decided big was best but I'm not sure now.I'm hoping this card will cover 4 challenges.

Craft challenge 17 'Pink and Brown

Secret Crafter Saturday challenge 50 'One for the girls'

Friday Sketchers challenge 70 . I've moved the bits around ever so slightly.
Daring Cardmakers challenge 'Shabby Chic'

The paper is from Dena Designs ,a scrap booking pack called fleur. The image is from Pink Cat Studio .I used an oval picture fame which I covered in lace and beads. The dark brown card was done with a decorative edge punch. The flowers, bits of lace and flat backed pearls are from my stash. I've tried to use delicate colours to keep this busy design simple.

Christmas

Ribbons ribbons everywhere this is the theme for Tuesday morning sketchers challenge 11 . I've used three different ribbons and woven them together .I had a card blank with the tree aperture so it was an easy make. Two small presents add a little extra but I'm not sure if this is enough .The card still looks a bit bare,I may add something extra later. The black card behind is just to show off the card better.

New DT members

ABC challenge are looking for new DT members to come on board. Why not go to their website and have a look .This might be something you would be good at. Dawn and Cathy have made some beautiful cards, sorry they are leaving. What you need to do to now.
1. Post about this on your blog and link it back.
2.Chose 3 of your favourite cards which shows your style of card making.
I've chosen 3 cards that don't have any cutie images on them .We can all stamp or download a digital image and colour it in. I do use images mainly because the challenge entries all seem to be focused around them. I am prepared to go that bit extra and make cards using only paper, punches, some dry embossing and just cutting things by hand.Buttons and bows, punched flowers, ribbons.I like to create a card from nothing, does that make me a thrifty crafter or more inventive.

Autumn Leaf

My first card of the week was for a male and it turned out OK so I'll try my luck at another one .A Spoonful of Sugar challenge 69 'Autumn ' . No cutie figures for me . A couple of die cut leaf shapes inked with black and gold. The word leaf is a rub on and the sentiment is printed on the computer .The tag was ready made from a magazine freebie .All the paper is from my stash.Greens,Gold,Brown and Orange that's just about as Autumn as it gets.

Secret Crafter Saturday challenge 49 theme "Teenage Boys".

Cut and folded a piece of card to the right size. Machine stitched papers ( the papers came in a small book 15cm square entitled Autumn ) . The three buttons were all clear and I stuck some paper behind them .The words are Crystal bubble letters. The image is from Woodware. I love the grungy colours, I guess it's OK for a teenage boy.

Just a quick note

Before I go off to do the lunch dishes( it's almost 4.00pm ) a couple of things.

Lori has a free sketch for you to try over on her web page .It's a first attempt but I am sure if we support her it won't be the last.

Pollycraft have some great candy to give away,it finishes Sunday so be quick.

Hiya Sausage

I'm on a roll this is my second card today and not a button in sight
.The Pink Elephant challenge 31 was for a colour combo of Red,Yellow,Black and White. Yellow and Red together not sure about that. I have managed to make a very simple card using a lovely image from Pollycraft called 'Hiya Sausage' which I think is so cute. No rocket science here I have just layered the papers, used a stamp for the sentiment and lucky for me I had a small red flower which I stuck on and drew in a stem .Punched a few small hearts to finish off.

Flutterby Butterfly

I can't believe it's Saturday already,I am so behind in making cards for all my favourite challenge sites. The up side to this is that now I have the time to make a card I can combine 2 challenges together.

ABC challenge 'D' is for die cut. Cupcake challenge 56 "Red,White and Blue

I've chosen a butterfly which had heart shapes cut out from its wings. The red parts have been heat embossed with clear powder.I used a swirly background stamp of blue on white paper which I stuck behind. The body I covered with glue and stuck beads across. All the paper used is from magazine freebies. Sentiment printed on computer. As I have stuck the butterfly onto a thin strip of card I suppose you could use it as a book mark.

birthday candles

Mojo Monday week 103. I've taken the three columns and made them into candles inking the side edges of the candles. All the papers used are a scrap booking pack of baby themed paper so there are lots of pastel colours to choose from. Not much more to say about this card, finished off with a button and ribbon.I seem to have a thing about buttons at the moment ,can't buy enough, can't use enough.

Hearts and Flowers

Secret crafter Saturday challenge 48 "Hearts and Flowers" . My card is inspired by a cushion I have a pattern for , the hearts, flowers and birdhouses are all applique. The cushion cover has much more detail because obviously it's much larger.

I trimmed a piece of grey card to the size I wanted ,the leftover bits I cut the birdhouses from. The background yellow paper is from a mixed scrap booking pack. I cut the big hearts by hand ,pierced two holes in them to give a button effect and threaded with cotton.I punched a small heart and two small circles for the birdhouses. Using lots of different yellow papers I punched lots of small flowers and added a small amount of glue and glitter to the centre of each one..

Enter or not

Allsorts challenge 'something for the boys' challenge 17.I had lots of fun with this one.My card is for a small boy . Behind the purple spotty card hides lots of ribbon, the tag comes off and has a design on both sides . The tag can be hung on a bedroom door handle to say if it's safe to come in.The tag is made from chipboard so it has enough weight and strength, once the images were stuck to the chipboard I inked the edges .The stripey background paper was a magazine freebie which I've had for ages. The images are from Fred she said and Pollycraft.

Gardening Bear

Most of the time I like the cards I make but not this one. I think the colours are a bit strong for my tastes. I've made it for two challenges Daring Cardmakers 'Sunflowers' and Friday Sketchers 68. The papers and lace are all from my stash, the image is from dulemba .

Beary angel wishes

Papertake Weekly challenge 'Angels and Fairies '. I'm not sure if I am too late for this weeks challenge but who knows. I've been away for a couple of days so my postings are not in any order this week. Both background papers were magazine freebies ,the tag is cut from gold pearlescent card and the image is from graphic garden. I've added a few sparkles here and there, I couldn't find a brad or eyelet the right colour to attach the sentiment so I have used a coloured drawing pin.

Summer Days

I hadn't intended to make a card for this challenge but I was out shopping and saw the ocean themed paper napkins. A Spoonful of Sugar challenge 67 'distressing" . Birthday butterfly

Secret crafter challenge 47. Anything with wings ,so many things to chose from but I am doing yet another decoupage.A very pretty butterfly with an oriental theme. The image is from Monicas 3d site.

Birthday circles

ABC challenge 'C' is for circles .I love the ABC challenges .My card was made using free paper and a sentiment from a craft magazine.I cut some small flowers from the leftover paper to give some of the flowers a second layer. The large circle is cut out from the front of the card and the large flower is on the inside just to make a change.

Ruby,Cream,Gold birthday

This week at Colour Create they have a beautiful colour combo of Ruby,Cream and gold.I posted a decoupage shoe last week and enjoyed revisiting this no longer popular craft. I thought I would make a few more. This fan I think came from woodys photobucket but I'm not positive. The paper is so pretty I don't think it needs any further embellishment from me.
